Vaccine Boosters Mandated for California Health Care & Direct Care Workers

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released two health mandates in December 2021 that require certain workers to be fully vaccinated and receive a booster for COVID-19 by February 1, 2022. These orders require workers in both Health Care and Direct Care that are booster-eligible to receive their booster by February 1, 2022, or within 15 days of becoming eligible for a booster if they are not eligible as of February 1, 2022. All Health and Direct Care facilities were required to begin testing booster-eligible workers (who have not yet received their booster dose) by December 27, 2021, and must be in full compliance by January 7, 2022. Workers who are vaccinated, but not yet eligible for a booster, are not required to test now, but will be required to test once they become eligible for a booster but remain unboosted.
